The Valley of the Kings is a necropolis. A necropolis is defined as a large cemetery or burial place near the site of a center of an ancient civilization. The Valley of the Kings, where the Tomb of Amenhotep II was found, is located near the Ancient Egyptian city of Thebes (now modern-day Luxor).
